Junice E. (Junie Hanewall) Jones, age 90, died May 23, 2015 at Agrace Hospice Care Center in Janesville. Junie was born June 29, 1924 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of George E. and Olga (Hanson) Hanewall. She was a 1943 graduate of Janesville High School and an active member of the 1943 Class Reunion Committee. She worked as a timekeeper at Parker Pen Company from 1943 to 1948.Junie and Kenneth D. Jones were married October 25, 1947 at the First Lutheran Church. As a lifetime member, she attended the Lydia Circle, served on the Altar Guild, sang in the youth and senior choirs, taught Sunday School, served on the funeral lunch team, and was chairperson for the rummage sale and annual bazaar.Junie enjoyed volunteer work, meeting and working with many people who became life-long friends. She was an active member of Mercy Hospital volunteers for 40 years from 1962 to 2002, working the gift cart, buying supplies and serving on the Auxillary Board. She was a hostess for the surgical waiting room and received the RAVE Award in recognition of Auxillary Volunteer Excellence in 2001. For many years Junie also volunteered at the Rock County home in a program organized by Mrs. George Gutman. In 1973 she was one of a group that initiated the Badger Bloodmobile program in Janesville. She was named Director of Volunteers and served on the Red Cross Board. In 1987 Junie was honored as a recipient of the YWCA Women of Distinction in the area of Humanitarian, Religious, and Community Service.Junie was a sports fan and enjoyed high school games and following the Green Bay Packers. Her ‘forever favorites’ were Coach Vince Lombardi and #4 Brett Favre. Junie is survived by sons Ken D. (Wendy Way) Jones, Jr. of Monona WI and Ethan B. (Marsha) Jones of Janesville; sisters Ony B. Hanewall of Madison, WI and Barbara E. Rittenhouse of Lynwood, WA; brother John E. (Peggy) Hanewall of Janesville; sisters-in-law Janice Hanewall of Janesville, Ruth Ann Hanewall of Florida, and Dorothy Weber of Janesville; brother-in-law Tom Jones of Florida; six grandchildren Jason B. (Kelly) Jones and Ryan E. Jones, Trevor (Sarah) Jones, Brandon D. (Trisha) Jones, Morgan C. Jones, and Kathryn A. (Michael) Boomer, seven great- grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her dear husband, Ken Sr., brothers Robert C. Hanewall and Paul A. Hanewall, sister-in-law Evelyn Asmus, and brother-in-law Jack Rittenhouse.Visitation will be held at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 Wright Road, Janesville, WI on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Funeral services will take place at First Lutheran Church, 612 N. Randall Avenue, Janesville on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Milton Lawns Memorial Park in Janesville.Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church’s Endowment Foundation or to the American Red Cross (Bloodmobile Fund).
